Living The Lull
If there is one recurring thought I’ve had since I was a little girl, it would be this; I love how God gives us seasons. Just when we are getting “over” one time of year, another is waiting in the balance to bring new excitement. Spring has begun. Birds are scurrying to build their nests, the days are getting longer and the thought of gardens pop into mind. Also, the wonderful celebration of Easter with Jesus’ resurrection is quickly approaching. Changing seasons, holidays, and fun family events always keep life filled with anticipation but how do we handle the lulls in everyday life? You know these days. They are filled with routine and nothing out of the ordinary adds any excitement.
You reflect.
To reflect means to think deeply or carefully about something. This is the challenge for this spring and every new season in life that comes your way. When you are having a regular day in between the fun of seasonal activities, stop to reflect on your life at this exact moment. Let everything soak in, the age of your kids, your pets sitting in the sun, your house and how you’ve made it home, and finally, your young self. Think about grabbing a journal and writing down your reflections because this day could easily be forgotten. Be on the lookout for the little things in life that can get overlooked. Special moments are there, catch them and reflect.
These days are fleeting; a lifetime goes by fast. We know how quickly the seasons come and go. This parallels with your days on this Earth. You are now in the “golden years” of memories, that your older self, will someday hold dear. For now, reflect on your life in the present. Enjoy this season as new memories “bud” into the existence of Spring.
