One Minute Mama - Freedom from Fear
In a world where there are so many arrows that fly a mama’s way, from accidents, to sicknesses, to tragedy and everything in between. Facing what seems like such a continual onslaught, it’s easy to let fear creep in. It has been this way since the beginning of time. Fear can be an emotion that grips us tighter and tighter, until we reach our breaking point. That is, if we let it. Often times our fear is not of things that have happened, but of things that might happen. However, once we realize that FEAR is nothing more than False, Evidence, Appearing, Real, then we are in a position to fight back against it. Thankfully, the Bible gives us a weapon for our arsenal when the arrows begin to fly. This weapon is Psalm 91…the Safety Psalm.
For years, I have prayed this Psalm when fear would start to consume my thoughts. I have prayed it over my family, new cars, and even over the entire boundaries of my house. I pray it on every car trip, plane adventure and every trip to the doctor. I find great comfort in claiming that this scripture covers me and all those who need this protection.
So, take a moment to read this scripture and even insert a name into it as you do, to make it personally yours. This is the first step in conquering your fears. Then you will find confidence in the knowledge that with God’s help, you can defeat evil through His promises in the Bible, as you make these scriptures a part of your unbeatable arsenal.
Psalm 91 (NIV)
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely, He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
