A Letter to Every Christian Mom
Do you feel like you are swimming upstream, with parenting being much more complicated than when you were a kid? You are not alone. Every generation of mothers has felt this way. The life challenges that moms and families face now are not worse but different. Every people group that has lived in the world has had its unique trials and tribulations. No one is exempt.
If you look through history, sin has existed since the snake, apple, and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The Old Testament is filled with different brutalities than we see in our world right now. The long list includes the blatant sins of abortion, gender confusion, sexual preferences, and a general straying from Christianity. For generations, people have tried to replace following Jesus with things of the world that are contrary to Him. Through this, they find that in the end, the truth and teaching of Jesus are the only things that will stand the test of time and bring true contentment into people’s lives.
There is only one way to live your life, and it is simple. Focus on Jesus and what the Bible says about how to live your life. We are born in this world; we are not of this world. (John 17: 15) In a world where the truth changes almost daily, stick with the one truth that will set you free. “I have come so that you may have life and have it more abundantly.” (Ephesians 3: 20) Don’t you want this abundant life full of God’s grace and direction for you and your family? His truth is the only guidance that you need. Turn off your TVs and your phone to the news. Don’t put celebrities and sports stars on a platform without seeing if they put Jesus first in their life. Trust me, as time goes on, the people who live their life for Jesus and try to walk daily with him experience joy, peace, and contentment in the day-to-day events of their life. In comparison, without Jesus, people may be hollow and lost; even with celebrity status or things the world values as accomplishments, they are empty.
Being a Christian and walking with Jesus is more than just a one-and-done occurrence. It is genuinely asking him into your heart and seeking his involvement in daily life on all things big and small. It’s trusting that he has the best plan and patiently waiting for it. Jesus doesn’t rush or push. He is there waiting for you to ask him to walk alongside you. Invite Him into your heart and let Him stand beside you because He holds the place of stature at the right hand of God. If you can have the God of the universe directing your path, why would you not let him steer your life? Don’t walk; run to Him for this guidance.
So, in this world today, know that God is on His throne, and He knows the end of the story. Trust Him to lead you and seek Him daily as you pray. Teach this to your family. (Proverbs 22:6) God is not confusing or mysterious and is waiting to be your guiding light in the world’s darkness. Seek Him and walk in the light of Jesus each moment while on this Earth. This will lead you into the glorious white light of heaven to spend eternity with the one and only giver of light, the Lord Jesus Christ. Then you will hear his words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” And you will have perfect confirmation that you lived the life he had purposed for you. (Matthew 25: 23)
Luke 11: 9-10 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
