As a mom, your love for your children is like nothing you have ever experienced. Before that child is born, it is natural to think, “How much love will I have for this child?” Whether it is your first or adding children to your family, sometimes a mama will question, “Can I muster up more love?” And the answer is a resounding YES!

My advice to new mamas is that sometimes it takes some time to fall in love with your child after their entrance into the world. New emotions, physical healing, life, and family dynamics have significantly changed. These feelings are entirely normal; give yourself the grace of time.

Trust God that He knows the child that your family needs. You will experience a love download for that child, whether planned or unplanned, and you will see that God’s will and not yours is what your family needs.

Don’t worry about the lack of money, relationships, job, or school status distracting you from God’s plan. He can work it all out if you trust him in that process. He has been planning all the details since the beginning of time, and he won’t stop with your situation.

As your children grow, you can’t imagine how God could love them any more than you, but He does. Reflect on your young self and see how God had poured this love into you for your children that you never experienced before you had them. It is then that you will truly begin to see that God has a plan for every one of your children, even if you didn’t initially feel it.

I am the baby of four in my family. My paternal grandmother was mad at my mom for “bringing another mouth” for my father to feed. I never knew this until I became an adult, but my mom told me I had won her over early as I was her little buddy, always sitting next to her as she took breathing treatments before she passed.

Regardless of the external noise you hear about a new baby, know that they grow up quickly and will delight you. You will have a love for that child that you never knew could exist, and that’s the love download. You will see the beauty of God’s plan in your life unfolding.  Trust him and enjoy each precious child He has chosen for you.

Psalm 143:8- NIV- “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you; I entrust my life.”
