How to Find the Truth

It’s easy to become discouraged in the world we live in today. What’s the truth behind the pandemic, masks, vaccines, and economic stability of our current world? There are so many conflicting opinions, liberties taken away, and viewpoints silenced. In a society desperate for truth, where is this found? It’s simple. Dust off your family copy of the Bible and delve in. You can find the complete truth in Jesus. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14: 6. It’s all right there.

So, what does Jesus say about all of this? Here are three biblical truths to offer some peace in a troubled world.

1.    Focus on the Book of John

Before Jesus left this world, he shared with John many truths about how the Holy Spirit will be with us when Jesus is no longer physically present. John was in the inner circle of Jesus’ followers and received the title of his “beloved disciple.” Read John in its entirety, but chapter 14:27 gives a highlight- “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John shares a peace that only Jesus can offer. Verse 15:11 even mentions that Jesus’ joy will remain in us and that our joy will be full. These words have been around for thousands of years, and they still are valid today. Open up these chapters to spotlight Jesus’ truths.

2.  Jesus is Still on His Throne

If you are a Christian, you may be familiar with this verse, “This is the day that the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” This scripture is from Psalm 118:24. Today is no exception to that promise. So don’t be down-trodden with worry and fear when this promise sets you up for joy. Trust the peace that Jesus has given you, and don’t be swayed by popular opinion. We have no idea of the big picture that is going on, but Jesus knows it all. Our circumstance is not a surprise to him. Seek Him and trust that He will lead you down the proper steps for your situation. He is ALWAYS on His throne and in control.

3.    His Mercy Endures Forever

Are you in a situation being forced upon you against your belief system? Be at peace, knowing that Jesus is in charge. Open up to Psalm 136 and read the whole chapter. It focuses on: “His mercy endures forever.” This line is repeated 26 times. Forever doesn't skip days. Don’t ever think your situation is more complex than the bible’s promises. However, don’t be a doormat for someone’s “policy” either. Speak up and be heard. Go for the Front Parking Spot, and don’t settle for the catch-all viewpoints. Do all you can to resist and pray for God’s help with your battle. If you have done all of that, Jesus is in control and not you. Trust Him that He has you covered for your entire situation.

Overall, take the news coming at you and put it under the lens of the Bible. This is the only place where pure truth is found, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

So put your mind at ease and open your Bible rather than your phone or newsfeed. You will be amazed how biblical truth will set you free.

Psalm 57:1-3 “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by. I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up.”
